What is The 2,026 in 2026 Challenge?

Move 2,026 Miles in 2026: A Movement Challenge for Real Life

What if 2026 wasn’t about doing everything perfectly—but about moving a little more, connecting a little deeper, and having fun along the way?

That’s the heart of Move 2,026 Miles in 2026: a year-long movement challenge designed to meet you exactly where you are. Walk, run, hike, stroll, wander, dance—every mile counts, and how you get there is completely up to you.

This is not a race.
This is not all-or-nothing.
This is an invitation.

What Is the Move 2,026 Miles in 2026 Challenge?

The idea is simple:

  • Move a total of 2,026 miles across the year 2026

  • Join at any point during the year

  • Track your movement in a way that works for you

  • Connect with others if you want—or keep it entirely personal

Some days you might log 10 miles. Other days, just 10 minutes. Both matter.

Ways to Join (Choose What Works for You)

There is no “right” way to participate. Pick one—or mix and match.

1. Join on Instagram (Optional & Just for Fun)

If you enjoy sharing moments, we’d love to see what movement looks like in your world.

📸 Take a photo of:

  • An animal or bird you spot

  • Yourself or a friend

  • Your pet

  • A scenic view

  • A favorite trail, street, or landmark

  • Any geographic feature that catches your eye

Tag your Instagram photo with

No pressure to post daily—or at all. This is simply a way to build community, spark motivation, and remind ourselves we’re moving together.

2. Track Your Miles Your Way

You’re in charge of how you keep track:

  • Use an app like Strava or your favorite fitness tracker

  • Track manually in a notebook or journal

  • Use a Google Spreadsheet (I’m happy to provide one if you’d like)

Share your progress—or keep it private. Both options are equally valid.

3. Participate Without Sharing Anything

Not into social media? Prefer quiet goals?

You’re still 100% welcome here.

This challenge works just as well if you:

  • Track privately

  • Don’t post photos

  • Focus only on your own movement and reflection

Connection doesn’t have to be loud to be meaningful.

Why a Big Movement Goal Is Worth It

Setting a lofty goal like 2,026 miles isn’t about perfection—it’s about possibility.

Movement Supports Mental and Physical Health

Research consistently shows that regular movement:

  • Reduces stress and anxiety

  • Improves mood through endorphin release

  • Supports heart health, mobility, and energy levels

  • Enhances focus and cognitive function

Even moderate, consistent movement has meaningful benefits over time.

Connection Makes Habits Stick

Studies on behavior change show that social connection increases motivation and follow-through. When we feel part of something bigger—especially something joyful—we’re more likely to keep going.

Seeing someone else:

  • Share a trail photo

  • Walk with their dog

  • Move through a tough day anyway

…can be the gentle nudge that gets us outside, too.

Shared Goals Build Joy, Not Pressure

This challenge isn’t about comparison. It’s about:

  • Celebrating effort

  • Normalizing rest days

  • Finding joy in everyday movement

  • Feeling less alone in taking care of ourselves

When movement becomes shared and playful, it stops feeling like a chore.

You’re Invited—Exactly As You Are

Whether you:

  • Walk a mile a day

  • Hike on weekends

  • Pace during phone calls

  • Take slow, intentional strolls

  • Move more some months than others

You belong here.

Move 2,026 miles in 2026—your pace, your way, your people.

If you’d like the Google tracking spreadsheet or want to jump in on Instagram, just say hello. Let’s make 2026 a year of movement, connection, and a little more joy.
